2026 Graduation Season brought me the opportunity to make not 1, but 2 Flag Quilts for my favorite twin girls.
2026 Graduation Season brought me the opportunity to make not 1, but 2 Flag Quilts for my favorite twin girls.
So…

Now I remember what it was like working on that green triangle quilt – 1 of 3 sides are not on the bias.
Once I started working on this it all came back to me – argh!!!!!
But it’s done and I can count another one in the box.
And I am pretty proud of how these points came together:

This block was difficult on so many different levels.
I spent more money on this block as I didn’t have much left over from the small quilt I made using all the breast cancer fabrics I had.

It did feel good to be back at the cutting table today though.
It’s looking a little pink/red over here. Figured with February coming up this was the right one to do now.

I loved making the quilt that this goes with – it was a fund raiser for Women’s Heart Health.
Well, I snuck in one more tonight – Fall/Orange. Where orange isn’t one of my favorite colors, the fall palette are my favorite colors.
This was a simple block, but I still stress over color matching way too much, way way too much.

Well with this block done, that makes 19 completed 15 1/2″ Geese Migration blocks.
I have 2 piles of scraps set aside for 2 more, but I feel this is coming to the point of starting to assemble the whole top soon.
That’s gonna be a big job and lots of floor space needed to do this next step.
One more from the color challenge from 2015 – it feels good to get another one done, but oh so many more to do.
Doing these blocks clears my head so much from my daily grind of programming – even though it is math, and rows/columns – it’s not all numbers.

Well, finally got the 3rd Red one done. Love love love how it turned out.
These 3 were so different and so much red – it was starting to feel like Christmas around here and I am not ready for that – we haven’t even had Trick or Treating yet – let’s not rush things!!!!

This one took me a lot of time, a lot of little pieces with even smaller pieces attached. 20 – 2″ squares with 1″ triangles added.
But it looks really really cool.
One more red one to go, hopefully this weekend I will get the last Red & White one done so that I can move on to another color!!!

This block represents a quilt top from 2015 and another one of my favorites –Start to the end of the journey – The ending to the journey
Well, I just couldn’t not finish one of these – it was bugging me way too much. AND This was the easier of the 3 that I have to do.
The original quilt top was part of a challenge from FB, flickr.com or some other group that I was in. It’s a nice little picnic quilt.

It’s sort of fitting that I am working on these this weekend – just last week I noticed that the Canadian Geese have started to appear in fields and yards on their yearly migration thru the state.
So since I got the other one made today, I was a on a roll. I pulled out the list of quilts that I need to do Geese Migration blocks for and I saw 3 red ones. So I dove right in.
Had a bit of a break to go to the nearby garden nursery, but I was gonna try to get another block done. So I started cutting, and cutting and cutting. But then I got stuck on a decision – I am not good at decisions that there is not an obvious answer. I could tell I was spinning my wheels. So I decided to get, what I thought was the hardest parts done, the Flying Geese.
I got those done and I will have to draw out what the next part is for these one.
