Well, green triangles that is.
I did get to work on another of these block this weekend. However, working with triangles is a lot more tedious than working with small squares.
I thought it was sometimes hard finding the 15 3 1/2″ squares needed to do one of the Geese Migration blocks – that’s nothing compared to what you need to do a triangle one.
I am finding that in this day of electronic abilities, you still spend a lot of time pounding the pavement when looking for a job – although, I spend more time pounding the keyboard these days then I did when I had a job!!!
So to support my 3Day team of walkers, I have been able to keep the creative juices flowing by working on signs and advertising for our upcoming events. It is amazing just how fast the day can go by when you “don’t have anything to do.”
I can’t sell nectar to a bee, but I can create material to help you sell yourself. This is my biggest challenge in trying to find a job – I cannot sell myself or my skills, but I sure can sell other peoples stuff!
I am a bit behind on my 30 days of creativity – I’ve been doing stuff, but nothing I’ve posted. So..
I have mentioned before the invitations for a wedding that I am helping a very good friend of mine with. So she came to me the other day – well actually, I got this email that said “I’m doing these, are you interested?”. What is this, you are asking – customized water bottles. So off I went to come up with something to go along with their wedding.
I got their “Save the date” announcements and I went off to design mode. I came up with two designs. Extremes of the spectrum!
Oh, the catch…She was headed off to vacation for a week and needs it while she’s gone!!!!!!!!!!
Truth be told, I work best with short deadlines. Less opportunity to change my mind on something!
When I created the invitations for the wedding, I also created a personalized medallion to ‘seal’ the invitation. I used the same font throughout the invitation and all the other stuff that was created for the wedding.
Sometimes it’s the little things that add a snippet of pizazz to an item.

ABC – it’s easy as 123 – you and me…..
I haven’t done a cutting file for a while so I thought I would do one. So I went simple or should I say ‘easy’. I haven’t use this file on a layout yet, but I have all of my son’s school pages to do at some point. So these will fill in nicely when I get around to it.

I’ve had a couple of questions about the images I use on the top of this blog. All pictures are taken by me. The horses are mine, the flowers are mine, okay the dragon fly & bee are nature’s but they are in my yard. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do when I’m taking them.

#1: Make an illustration using only solid shapes with no internal details. The shapes should be recognizable as the objects they represent.
Assignment #3 is here (I did that one first).
#2: Fill a drawing space with a series of lines each of which conveys a different emotion.
Okay – so some of these aren’t exactly what the exercise called for, but abstract is abstract.
#1 Create an abstracted image by starting with a realistic illustration and alter it.
This one I did, it’s not really a part of the assignment, but it was fun: 
#2 Make an image by depicting an object in extreme close-up or at an odd angle so that it’s not immediately recognizable.
#3 Make a visual pun by combining two different objects.
#4 Create an image using nonrepresentational abstract.
Exercise #3: Make a drawing that includes each kind of line: actual, implied and imaginary.
I am all about multi-uses for things, so here I go again.
I have done a couple of these books before, so I made two styles this time. I am talking about Word Books – where the pages are cut into letters and when put together they make a word. Then you customize them by adding pictures and other things to tell a story.
These are tedious to draw, and even more tedious to put the background paper on, but when it’s all done they are so darling. I made two of these this week and gave them along with the notecards I posted earlier to the silent auction to help my friends raise the money they need to the 3-Day Breast Cancer walk in August.
This is my traditional wordbook. You have background papers on each page and then the actual letter in an accent color. You can embellish the letters also.
On the second book, I took a themed package of paper out of my wall of paper and it just happened to have enough coordinated colors/patterns to work for this book. After I had put the background paper I had laid it out on my work table and I loved how your eye completed the letters on the pages.
