I was trying to do some signs for a fundraising event and my cutter decided to be a pill and not cut anything that I could use. I had come to terms about it and my hubby says “Well do you want to use the router and ‘rout’ them out?”
Well hell ya, but when ever we try to do something in a rush we both just get flustered and go to separate corners.
We haven’t use that router thing much so we were rusty but we both feel it was a huge success!!!
I really played around with stain options on these – Laundry is a mix of forest green paint mixed with a little bit of dark walnut stain. Farmhouse is a blue stain then I took the cloth from the walnut stain that was used to wipe off those boards and wiped it on here. Helped give it a little depth in color.

These two signs were done on 1×4 – so they are about 3 1/2″ x 30″ – a nice little sign to fill a spot on the wall.
Once these two were done, we were on a roll. So we took the same cutting file and did another sign, a little bigger – this one is on a 1×6 piece of cedar, stained a dark brown. We goof and had the wrong bit in when we started cutting so there is a texture/shadowing being done on each letter. It looks kinda kool to us. 1″x6″x36″ 1/8″ deep cut.
