So I have always, always, always loved blankets and/or throws that have a “blanket” stitch around the outer edge. But I have never been able to actually do that. I have more than 1 of the “tied” fleece blankets but you loose so much when you have to tie them.
My grandmother was a Master Crocheter – we all have had at least 1 afghan from her. She would make specific ones, where you got to pick the color or the style. But my favorites were the ones done with all the left overs – a mix of things.
So one day I was paging thru Pinterest and I saw fleece blankets come up in the pins and I decided that I wanted to try it – since I have some time on my hands. Well, once I got a routine going it went pretty well. The stitches aren’t perfect, but I love how they turned out. I have 2 done, 1 more to do, but it’s a great project to do while watching fall TV.
I ordered the special blade from Amazon as part of a package of 6 blades (4 straight, 2 speciality), the Crochet Needles I’ve had for awhile. Picked up inexpensive yarn from Walmart. The fleece I found at the Discount Fabric store – $4/yard for cut offs. each blanket is 1.5 yards = $6.
