2 of 3 Done – one more to go

I am so, so, so disappointed in the pattern for this quilt. I am a bit peeved at the shop that I bought the kit from cuz they couldn’t have followed this pattern “Exactly” and got a finished product – but I didn’t take a picture of their finished one – Lesson learned (When you buy a kit that includes a pattern, but the picture on the pattern does not match the material or sample, take a picture for reference!).

As I was assembling the quilt pieces, things just did not match up. No matter what I did. I reread (4 times) and nothing was making sense. So I walked away for awhile and came back fresh.  Then I started again and I realized the problem – so I walked away again to try to figure out the problem.

  • The pattern offers 2 cutting instructions, however, the panel that I have does not trim down to that size without having it off kilter – wonky.
  • The pattern says to only add a border to the long sides – not the top and bottom. But that made it look weird – off balance.
  • In the beginning of the pattern it references the 2 different sizes, however as you go further thru it it does not any longer. It does matter on some of the assembly what you started with.

So I took off the inner borders and trimmed it down to work with the lovely lovely perfect flying geese strips that I had made – they were so perfect!!!

It’s not as pretty as the one in the shop, but it’s not bad either. It ended up 46×68 – wonky to the end!!!

It’s a blustery day here so It was blowing in the wind when I tried to get the picture.
